#MyJihad Social Media Campaign
MyJihad is proud to be partnering during the month of March with Project Sakinah in order to have people participate in a campaign against domestic violence, child abuse, and for healthy marriages and effective parenting. During the month of March, we aim to spread awareness and get people TALKING and TAKING ACTION! All month long, fans will tweet, post and comment about their personal struggles with domestic violence, raising strong children, creating healthy families and child abuse. Each week we share a poster for fans to download and take a picture with it, and then tweet and share on our page. The idea is to generate discussion on these very important and relevant issues within our communities. Join us in supporting this Jihad!
It’s easy to take part.
1) Simply print out one of the posters below and then take a selfie of yourself or a group of friends with it (We highly recommend printing out a few and taking them to your mosque/community).
2) Tweet the picture using the hashtags #MyJihad and #ProjectSakinah. If you’re shy or have an old-school camera, just tweet us a picture of your sign or use no picture at all, just use the hashtags.
3) “Like” the MyJihad and ProjectSakinah Facebook pages and post your picture there (or add a comment about your Jihad if you don’t want to share a picture).
It’s amazingly effective, but simple, so please join us and declare your jihad to reclaim our Prophet’s example for peaceful families.
Create your own! Print out a Blank #MyJihad sign and let us know what area of health families or family violence are your Jihad.
About Project Sakinah
Project Sakinah is an effort to build the public will necessary to achieve lasting change in the attitudes and behaviors of Muslims around the issue of violence within families. Family violence is a global problem, one that many in the Muslim community have denied or minimized for too long. We’re working to change that – because oppression of others is simply not acceptable. Project Sakinah’s strategy is centered on the principle that by gathering our community we can stop family violence. Ours is a grassroots movement to change people’s behavior surrounding taboo issues such as domestic violence; child, sibling and elderly abuse; and child molestation within Muslim American families. We gather advocates, imams, survivors, families and friends to prevent family violence in various ways.
Let’s spread #ProjectSakinah and #MyJihad everywhere inshaAllah!
